The 4K difference This new 4K resolution camera records 4× the amount of pixels as compared to a 1080p security camera. This means that while a 1080p camera records at a pixel ratio of 1920 × 1080 (2,073,600 pixels), this 4K security camera records at a pixel ratio of 3840 × 2160 (8,294,400 pixels). This translates into much better quality video, especially when you need to digitally zoom in on particular details such as facial features.
