4K Ultra HD 16 Channel Security NVR, 3TB Hard Drive, Cloud Storage, POE, Records 4K (4 x 1080p) at 30FPS, Onvif compliant with Audio Recording

NR9163

Lorex is proud to introduce industry-leading 4K resolution recording to their extensive line of consumer security products. This network video recorder (NVR) is compatible with IP security cameras from 720p all the way to 4K resolution. It contains sixteen built-in Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) ports and a 3 terabyte security certified hard drive. It can also be connected to our innovative Lorex Secure app for easy remote monitoring from your smartphone or tablet. Whether you need it for your home or business, 4K resolution will provide the best chance to capture the specific details you need should an incident occur.

Ultra HD 4K resolution recording

This NVR is a powerhouse. It is capable of recording smooth 4K video in real-time (30 frames per second) on all sixteen channels. When utilized with a 4K security camera, this NVR ensures the highest level of clarity in your recordings. A higher resolution (3840 2160 pixels compared to 1920 x 1080) will not only provide you with a new level detail, it will allow you digitally zoom further into the distance without drastically reducing image quality. It is important to note that this 4K security NVR does not require a 4K television or monitor. The additional resolution will simply be there just in case. So if an incident occurs, 4K resolution will offer the best chance to capture useful evidence such as distinct facial features.

Lorex Secure app for smartphones and tablets

Connect this NVR to our Lorex Secure™ app for easy remote monitoring and more. This easy-to-use app allows you to view live and recorded video from your security cameras on your smartphone or tablet for peace of mind no matter where in the world you are. This app will also enable convenient push notifications for motion-triggered events so you can always be in-the-know. Other app features include free cloud storage, RapidRecap®, and (for the first time on NVR security recorders) a privacy mode that allows you to easily turn off and on the recording of a camera straight from your phone.

RapidRecap® – see the entire day in a minute

Use the Lorex Secure app to create a RapidRecap® video. This feature will let you see more while watching less by compiling up to 12 hours worth of activity into a short video summary. Watch as all motion events are superimposed onto your screen simultaneously with accurate timestamping to tell you what happened and when.

Real-time 30FPS recording rate

A 30 frames per second (FPS) recording rate provides real-time on-screen movement. This high frame rate ensures that you don't miss the best moments.

*Not all 8MP (4K) IP security cameras are capable of recording 4K video at 30fps. Please see product details for its maximum frame rate.

Plug-and-play installation via PoE

Connect IP cameras to the integrated power-over-ethernet (PoE) ports for a truly plug-and-play surveillance experience. Each camera only requires a single ethernet cable to connect it to the NVR thanks to PoE technology. Simply insert one side of the ethernet cable to the camera and the other to the NVR - and your cameras will be ready. This all-in-one cable provides both power to the camera and video transmission up to 300ft / 91m. This means that you do not need to install your security cameras to a power outlet nearby.

Supports audio on every channel

The NR900 Series NVR supports audio on every channel with no secondary connections required. Audio is transmitted to the NVR over the same Cat5e Ethernet cable that connects your camera to the NVR. So all you need is a Lorex camera that supports listen-in audio, such as the LND2750AB security camera. Audio enabled cameras can enhance your security coverage by providing you with more evidence (such as voices) and can expand your security coverage beyond the camera's field of view (FOV).

Reliable local storage

The NR9163 comes with a massive 3TB security grade hard drive that is designed specifically for security purposes. Record up to 4K HD (3840 2160) for the highest video quality, or set to a lower resolution for improved recording efficiency.

Visit our Hard Drive Calculator to estimate your desired specifications.

*8MP IP cameras are required to take advantage of 4K recording.

Multiple Recording Modes

Customize this NVR's recording settings to fit your needs. It can record footage continuously, during scheduled times, or only when movement is detected. If you wish to only record motion events, there is no need to worry about missing those first vital moments. This NVR includes a pre-recording function that goes back to record the five seconds before the motion was even detected. Most importantly, all of these recording modes can be customized on a camera to camera bases.

Automatic hard drive management

You won't have to lift a finger as the hard drive within the NR900 Series NVR becomes full. It is programmed to automatically overwrite the oldest footage with the newest.

Up to 40% More Storage Capacity

The NR900 Series NVR is able to receive HEVC (High Efficiency Video Encoding) or H.265 video compression files. This feature can save you up to 40% more space when compared to H.264 Advanced Video Coding. So go ahead and add one of Lorex's new line of 4K security cameras to your security system. They come equipped with HEVC compression capabilities, which allows you to receive 4x the resolution of 1080p without the large 4K file sizes.

Backup footage internally and externally

The security grade hard drives within every NR900 Series NVR are extremely reliable (less than 1% failure rate per year). Unfortunately, hard drive crashes can still occur. Thankfully, there are a few different ways to backup footage just in case. One method you can use is to back-up the data of your internal hard drive with an external USB flash drive or hard drive. Or you can remotely backup your footage to an FTP server. The NR900 Series NVR also supports a RAID 0 function. To understand this function, it is important to note that every NR900 NVR comes with two hard drive bays. The first bay will always be taken by your main hard drive, while the second bay is open for you to add an additional hard drive too. For example, you can have a 3TB hard drive in the first bay (your main hard drive) and a 6TB hard drive in the second bay. Then you can set up mirror recording to the second bay. The first 3TB's on the secondary hard drive will have the same data as the 3TB hard drive. However, as the first hard drive starts to overwrite its footage, the second hard drive will keep that older footage until all 6TB's are filled before it starts to overwrite its footage. This allows for much longer backup times, which can be of vital importance should the main hard drive ever fail.

Auto-recovery after power failures

There is no need to worry about your NVR if there is a power failure. It will automatically reboot and start recording again within minutes of regaining power. This NVR also includes a Watch Dog feature that continuously monitors the system for potential system errors. If a critical error is ever detected, Watch Dog will automatically restart the NVR and start recording again. This restart will help ensure system stability, keep your cameras recording, and prevent future system failures.

IPv6 ready

A unique IP (Internet Protocol) address is given to every computer or device connected to the internet. Devices can then communicate to each other through these addresses. The internet has been using Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) addresses since the beginning. These addresses, however, have been depleted since it only supports 4.3 billion addresses. This is why it is important that your NR900 Series NVR supports Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), the next generation of the IP address standard. This standard, compared to IPv4, will support 340 trillion, trillion, trillion IP addresses! Eventually, IPv6 will replace IPv4 altogether, but you won't have to worry as your NVR has been engineered to support both types of IP addresses. This NVR also supports other important internet protocols, including HTTP, TCP/IP, UPNP, RTSP, UDP, SMTP, NTP, DHCP, DNS, PPPOE, DDNS, and FTP.
